TBGTravel: Art Basel Miami Beach pt. 1

Hey Everyone, KayElle here!

I am happy to have experienced Art Basel Miami Beach. What exactly is Art Basel? It is a week long event that is held in Basel, Hong Kong, and Miami that features modern and contemporary art. The week is filled with everything from exhibitions showcasing paintings, sculptures and more to fashion films. Each year more and more celebrities have gotten involved collaborating with artists and hosting events/parties so it is becoming more known to those who are not a part of the art world.

Alicia and I headed down to Miami to cover several of the events during Art Basel. Just after touching down, we had to quickly eat and get FAB for the Art Loves Fashion opening night party held at the Spectrum tents. We were social media correspondents for Planet Fashion TV the hosts of the event so we got to work right away! Not only were we busy capturing moments for PFTV, but I also shot a segment for FAB TV and worked with Blavity and did several Snapchat takeovers throughout the week. The opening party featured Li Jon, Diana Couture, Mister Triple X and more. I was thankful for the opportunity to chat with Erik Rosete, designer & president Art Hearts Fashion Week.

On day two, we explored the design district going into many high-end establishments including Fendi Casa. Fabian gave us a private tour of the many furnishings that are offered for not only home but office as well. After grabbing a quick bite and relaxing for a bit, we got ready to attend the Wynwood Lab grand opening event. There we were able to talk with several curators that featured pieces in the lab.

Friday we headed over to South Beach and walked through the Miami Beach Botanical Gardens and since we were near the shops on Lincoln Road did a little shopping too! After a lot of walking and waiting on the shuttle to take us back to the Design District, we were so hungry! We picked up some dinner at Harry's Pizzeria. Later that evening we met up with a couple of photographers and enjoyed more time in South Beach.
